$100,000 in 100 days

To all the supporters of the 100K100D campaign,

Officially, the 100 days is over so let me start by saying a HUGE thank you to all our supporters and well-wishers. To date we have collected $32,000 (plus more) and we are still in the process of following up on pledges.

I also take this opportunity to let you know that we have moved the MAIN event “Premier Auctioneers Competition” (www.premierauctioneerscompetition.com.au) out of the 100 day period.

The event has gained a lot of interest in the business community and particularly in the real estate industry and to give it due attention we felt it was necessary to postpone the date.

This fundraising page will remain open should anyone wish to contribute to the 100k100d campaign.

Things can never be good when your Doctor says, “we need to talk”. A biopsy had confirmed that I had a rare tumor in my throat. The initial prognosis wasn't good. In fact they didn't give me long at all. But with the support of medical research I am managing my illness and I continue to live knowing that every day is a gift.

This experience taught me one thing. Never take life for granted.

So, I decided to set myself a number of challenges. One of them is to raise $100,000 in 100 days (100k100d) for Westmead Medical Research Foundation (WMRF).

The money raised will go towards research into cancer and rare diseases. But what does $100,000 look like in health research?

Well, a hundred thousand dollars for research can help in many ways. But we feel the best way for WMRF to continue to assist the great work in funding research in cancer and rare diseases is to have more researchers. This means that $100,000 can enable 10 researchers to work on cancer and rare diseases.

But of course I can't do it alone. I need your help. By raising $100,000 in 100 days, we will be able to achieve our goal to enable more research and a future with better treatments, increased knowledge, prevention and ultimately cures.  With each researcher funded, there is the possibility to unlock answers.

I'm excited to be supporting WMRF and I'm looking forward to taking you on the 100 day journey towards $100,000!

Here are some ideas for how you can be a part of raising $100k in 100d:

• Organise a fundraiser (mufty day, bbq, morning tea, trivia night, karaoke competition etc.). Check out the WMRF website for handy information on running your own fundraiser
• Donate your profits or salary for an hour or a day or even a week!
• Contribute a portion from the sale of your goods or services - embrace the 100k100d campaign and create a time challenge for your business. E.g. For 20 days you will contribute 20% of profits to the 100k100d campaign
