World Expeditions Foundation Nepal Earthquake Appeal
Nepal needs our help. Give now, and assist Adventure South to raise funds for those devastated by the earthquake. Our parent company WORLD EXPEDITIONS HAVE DONATED $50,000 to the appeal with travellers donations flowing in. Adventure South will match any donation that you make via this page, we will cap this at NZ$10,000 with these funds going directly to support the Nepalese community.
The devastation wrought by Nepal’s earthquake on Saturday 25th will be felt by the local population for years to come. Here in Christchurch we know well the heartache and suffering that this will cause and because of this plus our personal history with time in Nepal, we have launched an appeal aimed at those clients who are planning to book on any Adventure South trip for the 2015/16 season. In 1979 I had my first expedition to Nepal and returned again in 1985 for a winter expedition with our family trekking into Base Camp. Like many companies, many of our staff and guides have experienced treks and climbs in Nepal which has lead to our decision around how to support the country in its recovery.
For those who have future plans to visit and trek in Nepal, we urge you to keep those plans and dreams alive. Tourism is absolutely vital in Nepal and future visitors will drive the recovery.
For those coming to New Zealand in the next summer or booking our overseas trips, we ask that you consider making a voluntary $25 donation per person in addition to your trip cost. Adventure South will match your donation, providing considerable leverage for your commitment. We will cap our company donation at NZ$10,000. Our charity of choice is our parent companies World Expeditions Foundation.
World Expeditions Foundation does not levy any administration fee. Donations are tax deductible for Australian citizens.

World Expeditions Foundation Ltd (Nepal Earthquake Appeal)
The catastrophic earthquake that struck Nepal on 25 April, and the subsequent earthquake on 12 May, resulted in a massive loss of life and destroyed much property. In the initial weeks following the earthquakes, the funds raised through this appeal, were directed to purchasing and delivering food packages, tarpaulins, corrugated galvanised sheets and blankets to mountain communities in need. Many of these communities are home to World Expeditions porters. As Nepal moved into the reconstruction phase, funds were directed to the efforts to re-establish schools in the mountains, namely: 1. Construction of four classrooms at Manju Shree Primary School in the Solukhumbu 2. Constructon of the main office building at Kshamawatu Secondary School in the Dolakha district 3. Construction of three classrooms at Shree Setibhume Secondary School in the Rasuwa district We are currently raising funds to build three classrooms for Shree Manjushree Secondary School in the Gorkha district, we require AUD$39,300 for the construction.
