Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
Story
Nelson Mandela once said;
“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”
This is the motto of Mad Mix.
Mad Mix is a an eclectic bunch of middle age guys from Sydney. It consists of Atul Mehta, Firoz Vellani, Joseph Sassine, Kumar Kalyanakumar, Leonard Greis and Syd Bader.
The members of Mad Mix come from different walks of life, but are now ready to take on the challenge of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa, rising 5,895m from sea level. Mad Mix team will depart Sydney on 18 August 2013. It will begin the climb on 22 August and hoping to summit on 28 August. The route chosen is known as Lemosho.
Whilst excited about the challenge, somewhat exhausted from the training and anxious about the possible altitude sickness, Mad Mix has not forgotten how lucky they have been in their lives to be able to try challenges like climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro.
The team also knows that whilst it is climbing Mt Kilimanjaro it will figuratively be cheered on by family, friends and colleagues. Whilst they will not be trackside, their support in spirit will allow the team to deal with the challenges that will unfold on the climb. The team is ready for the toil ahead but would like to would like to translate that in to something that will improve the lives of some people who are less fortunate than its members. The team has chosen Good Beginings Australia as the charity of choice and we are aiming to raise $20,000. Therefore, we sincerely ask family, friends and collegues to contribute generously.
There's a lovely saying that goes something like this: "Every mountain top can be reached if you just keep climbing." It's something the Mad Mix will be taking quite literally as it attempts to summit Kilimanjaro. This also applies to our everyday lives. We all can achieve anything we want, if we are strong and determined

Good Beginnings Australia has a vision to provide a good beginning for every child in Australia, no matter what their circumstances. Not all children grow up safe, happy and healthy. Good Beginnings Australia provides early intervention and parctical parenting programmes for disadvantaged children and their families, so that every Australian child has the opportunity for a good beginning in life. Last year Good Beginnings helped over 5,000 children have a better beginning in life.
