Running for the Street Kids
I will be running the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore as an official pacer in 2012. My objective is to be able to run and motivate runners who is either doing their first Full Marathon or runners who are attempting to better their previous timings to finish in 4 hours and 30mins.
I was introduced to Blue Dragon Foundation when I was travelling extensively for work from 2005 to 2007 in Vietnam and that it was during these period that I saw those street kids walking around the streets selling stuffs/ polishing the shoes of tourists.This will by my 4th Full Marathon since I started running last year. This year I have started to get involve in more community works and I hope to make a difference in running the marathon in 2012. I will be raising funds for the foundation and I sincerely hope that those who knows me will support me in the good cause. Thanks you in advance.
About the Cause
Established in 2002 by Australian Michael Brosowski, the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation works with some of the most disadvantaged children in Vietnam - children with disabilities; street children; victims of trafficking and the rural poor. Most are from rural provinces and many have migrated to the cities in hope of a better life. Blue Dragon work with these children and their families to provide opportunities to break the poverty cycle.
Blue Dragon works with Vietnamese children who often missed out on the basic essentials that many of us take for granted, such as access to education, medical care, shelter, warm clothing and healthy food. As of 2012, Blue Dragon is helping over 1300 girls and boys.
Your donation to Blue Dragon will give the basics to a child in need, ensuring they get a new start in life.
- - $40 can provide a disadvantaged child with textbooks, stationery and a school uniform for a year.
- - $55 can provide a disadvantaged child with a warm winter wardrobe.
- - $100 can provide essential medical care for a sick child.
- - $200 can provide a highly nutritious lunch for 10 street children for a month.
- - $400 can rescue a child who has been trafficked and reunite them with their family and community."
