Story
For several years now our family has raised funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation as part of the Fremantle Dockers Purple Haze Appeal. Last year with the
support of local businesses and 368 Goldfields community members we successfully raised $55,500 for this wonderful cause. The Starlight Children’s Foundation
supports seriously ill children and their families through initiatives such as the Starlight Express rooms in major children’s hospitals across Australia; granting once in
a lifetime wishes; and the Teenage Livewire program. The Starlight Children’s Foundation is a non-government not for profit organisation that relies almost entirely on company donations and community fundraising to operate.
We have always thought that the work done by the Starlight Children’s Foundation is important. However, in 2013 we personally experienced this first hand when
our youngest daughter Tayten was diagnosed with a lifelong bowel disease and required months of intense treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth. The
encouragement and support provided to Tayten and our family by the Starlight Children’s Foundation helped her to show much needed bravery and strength, often
during the most difficult times of her treatment, when as a parent I didn’t know what I would be able to do to help her go on. With the help of the extremely generous
Goldfields community our family has been proud to raise over $150,000 towards the Starlight Children’s Foundation. However, we now know the pricelessness of the
service that they provide and will forever be grateful. We wish that no family should ever have to endure their child being seriously ill but if they do we know the difference the Starlight Children’s Foundation makes.
This year we will be ‘Bringing the Stars Indoors’. Our function will be held at the Kalgoorlie Boulder Race Club on Friday, 6 March 2015 and we would like to invite you to be part of the event. Our aim is to host an enjoyable and affordable evening whilst raising awareness and funds for this cause, which is now so very close to our hearts.
We are seeking support through financial sponsorship from you, to help build on the success of previous years. Monetary donations are fully tax deductible

Starlight Children's Foundation
The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families - Starlight is the only children’s charity with a permanent, physical presence in every major paediatric hospital in the country.
Every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. For thousands of these children what happens next is the diagnosis of a serious or chronic illness that changes their life, and the lives of their families, forever.
This is where Starlight steps in - delivering a range of innovative programs, built on the World Health Organisation’s social model of health, to support the well-being and resilience of these seriously ill children and their families.
Starlight programs are integral to the total care of seriously ill children - while the health professionals focus on treating the illness, Starlight is there to lift the spirits of the child - giving them the opportunity to laugh and play and be a child again.
