Story
Hi there!
As some of you may know, over the summer I fell in love with the culture and people of Siem Reap, Cambodia. In no small way was this massively influenced by a friendship I made with a local prankster, Kimlean. Lean is a funny, mischevious bro with a big heart. He took me and a few friends to hidden waterfalls, ancient temples and a sunrise tour of one of the wonders of the world as well as accidentally eating dinner at a brothel (story for another time). Anyways, I had an amazing insider experience of Cambodia because of him and I felt grateful to have met him. So much so that I decided to sponsor his daughter's education and keep in regular contact with the dude even when im back home.
Sadly, last week Lean was hit by a car whilst working. He's a tuk tuk driver and earns very little income. The accident broke vertebrae in his back and has left him bedridden for months and no way to pay for any medical treatmetn. Without being able to work as a Tuk Tuk Driver for the next few months puts Lean and his family in a perilous situation. Cambodia is sadly a very undeveloped part of the world and has not got a benefits system for families like Leans.
So, I've set up this page because I'm hoping that my friends will help me raise enough money to pay for Kimlean to receive the medical attention that he requires and support his family whilst he recovers. It's not often that you get the opportunity to really help make a difference to a specific person's life but here it is.
I really hope I can count on your support. He's a loving husband, an enthusiastic and exciting father, and a treasured friend of mine.

Our Mission….. to restore hope, dignity and promise to these once proud and prosperous peoples. Mondul 3 Village, Siem Reap….. one of the poorest slum areas in Cambodia. A broken community of army families, karaoke/sex workers and displaced men women and children.
New Hope Cambodia is a grass roots, hands on and non government organization. “Whilst 'free education for all' is our priority, an important step in breaking the cycle of poverty, we cannot ignore the chronic malnutrition; ill health and appalling living conditions our students and families face every day”.
Today, New Hope, with the assistance of sponsors and volunteers, also provides free medical treatment for up to one hundred residents per day for illnesses such as chronic malnutrition, HIV, hepatitis, typhoid, tuberculosis and dengue fever and supports over 300 families on a food program
- Food supplies and support to 320families
- Baby formula for 100 malnourished babies.
- Education for 1000 students
- Regular classes are held for Mothers on Family Planning, Child care, and Food Hygiene; and delivers awareness of gambling, drug and Child trafficking issues.
