Being Silent to Give Kokoda Kids a Voice

Story

Hello family and friends,

I am aiming to raise money to help build the Kokoda College - see http://kerriephipps.com/2013/09/whats-exciting/

I’ll be silent and give Kokoda Kids a voice – by supporting their education - on Tuesday 26 November.

I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make! Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the Kokoda Track Foundation.

All donations to the Kokoda Track Foundation of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia.

Thanks so much for your support!

For locals - on Tuesday 26th November I'll be in Sticks & Stones cafe on Macquarie Street in Dubbo from 9 - 4 and won't speak a word. I’ll LISTEN to people who come to speak to me for 20 minute sessions each about challenges or ideas they want to think through and create solutions. If you’re up for it – I will be a mirror to your thinking as I do in coaching, but I will only help you think things through by writing down a question or two, to help clarify your thinking.

If you would like to book a specific time, get in touch with me asap to avoid dissapointment or come and observe from a distance :)

If you'd like to volunteer to support this activity by observing my silence and recieving donations and feedback - and giving thanks on my behalf -  as participants leave the cafe please let me know. I'd love a little support team to cheer me on as I keep my mouth shut. Disclaimer - I will be allowed to laugh out loud if appropriate. Joy is infectious :)

KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation)

We're an Aussie NGO that works with people and communities to improve lives, livelihoods and futures of Papua New Guineans, keeping the spirit of Kokoda alive.

Expanding beyond our original focus region of Kokoda in Oro Province, KTF now works with communities across 16 of PNG’s 22 provinces....and we have big plans for 2021 and beyond.

We operate programs in the vital areas of education, health, equality and leadership

Over the past decade, we have delivered a range of projects including the construction of school and aid post infrastructure along and around theKokoda Track, delivery of educational supplies to 20 schools and drugs and medical supplies to 15 aid posts, postings of 15 teachers and over a dozen communityhealth workers, distribution of over 32,000 solar lights across the country, installation of 1,000+ household solar units in the Kokoda catchment, establishment of businesses by Women’s Groups in five provinces and the design and delivery of the Archer Leadership program to find and foster PNG’s future leaders for 10 years.

600+ students currently have a second chance at education, studying Grades 9 to 12 via Flexible Open Distance Education at Kokoda College, Balimo College and the Motu Koita FODE Centre. We have trained 3,685 elementary teachers via our Teach for Tomorrow project and supported the ongoing professional development for teachers via Teach for Tomorrow II, upskilling 220+ teacher trainers. Teach for Tomorrow, the Early Years is developing and implementing Early Childhood Education frameworks in conjunction with provincial Departments of Education. Our network of coaches in Western Province is also working with a core group of 37 elementary teachers to build their teaching skills.
