Rebuild Nepal

Story

Hi there!

In October 2015, Sonia Wray, Lead trainer at Sterling Results Fitness Club, is joining World Expeditions in a 'Rebuild Nepal' campaign.

Sonia will travel to Nepal and donate time to rebuild Manju Shree Primary School, which is located in Lura village, in the Solu Khumbu region of eastern Nepal.   The earthquakes damaged most of the school buildings and a full rebuild is required.

Following the community project work , she will hike to the base of Mount Everest.  Rebuilding Nepal from a tourism point of view.

If you would like to help rebuild Nepal, please donate to the Australian Himalayan Foundation (AHF).

As you may recall the earthquakes in early 2015, severely damaged many of the communities in the extremely poor lower Solu Khumbu district, where AHF Teacher Training and Quality Education program is helping hundreds of children, families and schools. AHF support is vital for these communities, many of which rely primarily on subsistence farming for food and survival.  In this region, there are over 40 AHF schools that need urgent repair and 15 schools that need to be rebuilt entirely. The donations received will help get these schools, and the communities they are based in, back on their feet!

Sonia's making a difference , firstly by rebuilding the school through manual labour , and then through helping the community by trekking.

Here’s an idea of how your donation will help :

•       AHF School Scholarships: It costs $150 a year to fund one child on an AHF School Scholarship.  These scholarships are offered to children in the greatest need of educational support, and cover schooling expenses, school uniforms, lunches, stationery and text books.

•       Teacher Training Courses (6 day courses): It costs approximately $185 per day for a Nepalese teacher to be trained as a 'key teacher'.  The key teacher workshops are designed to fast track the most able teachers so that they can eventually train other teachers.

•       Rebuilding schools: AHF are expecting the cost of a total rebuild of one of their schools is approx. $30,000.  Each classroom will cost around $7,000.

Sterling Results Fitness Club thanks you for your Tax Deductible contribution the Australian Himalayan Foundation.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to Australian Himalayan Foundation

Thanks so much for your support!
