Story
Bedside to Bench need our help. They are developing a Nurse Network Program that can be implemented across all types of cancer, and they are starting with pancreatic cancer.
It's one of the most lethal types of cancer with only a 5% survival rate here in Australia. The average length of life after diagnosis is only 180 days.
My brush with pancreatic cancer started in 2010. I found a cyst in my pancreas by accident – an x-ray technician noticed a shadow in a chest x-ray for pneumonia. The cyst was stable at first, but almost doubled in size between my last scan and surgery in late 2011. I ended up loosing 70% of my pancreas and my spleen.
Pancreatic cancer research is not well funded and I would like to see more clinical and research data ‘open’ and accessible, but until progress is made in this area, it would mean so much to me to have your support for such an important program.
