CANNING STOCK ROUTE WALKING TREK FOR MENTAL ILLNESS AND SUICIDE AWARENESS

Our Community page for everyone to share; Our aim of creating awareness and acceptance of depression, anxiety, mental illness and suicide prevention. There is also information on our trek, the walkers and volunteers Please like our page and help us create a growing community of acceptance.

 We are a group of 4 ladies Sarah Whitmarsh, Jo Graham, Cathy Williams,  Rose Weber and our only boy 16 year old Samuel Lancaster.  The Canning Stock Route is a metaphor for anyone who is in a dark place, both physically and mentally just keep going never give up, it does not matter how you achieve your goals in life, it only matters that you get there in the end. Our aim is to walk as a team to achieve our goals of creating awareness and our own personal target. We are not walking the CSR to break any world records, we are walking the CSR for a common goal of creating awareness and stopping the stigma associated with mental illness, one step at a time.

5000 KM BICYCLE RIDE FOR SUICIDE AWARENESS 2013

In April/May of 2013 we completed a  5000 km bicycle ride starting in Geraldton and travelled up the Great Northern Highway to Port Hedland then back down the North West Coastal Highway back to Geraldton. We visited schools, mines, towns, local communities, aboriginal communities and anyone else we met along the way. Our aim was to create as much awareness as possible about suicide prevention. And the impact of suicide on loved ones, depression, mental illness and all the treatments and help available. We are also handed out 3500 resource information packs with lots of resources about mental illness, suicide and situational crisis, depression, bullying, substance abuse, plus much more and where to get help and the treatments available
