For 2.5 years a group of young determined men attempted to prove that any average person can break a world record. Well after years of blood sweat and beers we came to the end of our journey. The record we set was the world's 'Largest Beer Can House' consisting of 11,538 cans, mainly consumed by ourselves and was accepted by the world record academy. Unfortunately, the academy required an outrageous $12,000 to register it as a record. Therefore, an official record has not been set, however it is quite obvious this will be the biggest and best in the world. Ever.
Since we are such top blokes we built the house in two phases. The first was showcased in front of the broader community, so they could witness possibly the greatest achievement in Canberra (Australia’s) history since that time Jackie Chan's parents opened that restaurant and to raise funds for The Shake It Up Foundation Australia who fund vital research in developing a cure and understanding of Parkinson's Disease.
The first portion was constructed on 9th November at Beer Day Out Festival at Thoroughbred Park Canberra, then finished in a private location two weeks later. The structure has an area of 4x4m and stands around 3m high. Over $1,500 was raised for the charity and the house has since been featured on national television and various other news mediums, which just goes to show, even drinking can be turned into something positive.
Parkinson's Disease is a very common disease with around 30 Australians being diagnosed with it every day. Members of our group have family or friends who have been diagnosed with this disease and understand the stress and problems it has on the sufferers and their loved ones. This first hand experience has motivated our group to raise money and awareness for this important charity in hope to find a cure.

About Shake It Up
Shake It Up Australia Foundation together with our partner at The Michael J. Fox Foundation are the largest non-government funder of Parkinson's research across multiple institutes in Australia. Founded in 2011 we have funded over $11.5M in research targeted at finding better treatments and ultimately the cure.
The Foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44.
Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The approach MJFF takes to assessing, funding and project managing the world’s best research all over the globe eliminates redundancy, ensures efficiency and unites the global community in the quest to find a cure.
Clyde realised that funding Parkinson’s research was the best thing that he could do to help himself, his family and the 100,000 other Australians living with the disease. With that clear in his mind, Clyde founded Shake It Up Australia Foundation (SIUAF) to give other Australians the opportunity to join his quest.
