Story
In September I joined a team of Australians to build a high school to support orphans and vulnerable children in the town of Shisasari in Western Kenya. In Kenya there is an increddibly high rate of poverty. More than 60% of people in Shisasari community are unemployed and many live on less than $2.00 per day. If you earn $2.00 a day, every day, you are well off. Only 40% of high school aged children in Kenya even recieve a high school education, largely because of a lack of affordable high schools. We plan to change this.
We take education for granted, but in developing countries education can help children gain a better life. Many children are unfortunately missing out on a vital opportunity to help break the cycle of poverty. Our project will support orphans and the most vulnerable children in the community to give them the opportunity for a better life. It will change lives.
This is why I need YOUR help to keep this project a reality! We need funds to help finish the construction of the high school and get the first students into the school in 2013. Please make a donation using the link on this page to help change the lives of many children in Shisasari.
Shisasari Orphan Project is run by a group of volunteers, like me, who have donated their own time and money to build this project. All proceeds given will go directly into helping pay for the building supplies or education requirements for the school, and all donations through this page are tax deductable.

Shisasari Orphan Project (Helplink Australia Inc)
The Shisasari Orphan Project (SOP) is a volunteer organization that operates under the auspices of Helplink Australia. Our goal for this project is to break the cycle of poverty in Shisasari by educating and caring for orphaned and vulnerable children and, in doing so, showing the community of Shisasari, Kenya that life is worth living. Our project involves building a secondary school in the community of Shisari. The school is anticipated to become a sustainable center of excellence, providing a platform for children to break free from the cycle of poverty and providing hope for generations to come.
