Walking Against Youth Violence
Walking Against Youth Violence
Story
What a beautiful day we had for our Walking Against Youth Violence Walk. 30 walkers started from the CBD Harbour Bridge Steps at 6.30am this morning and another 30 walkers joined us at Chinaman's Beach at 10am. We finished at North Harbour Reserve at 12.30pm. Liam walked the last 1km with us and was clapped as he went over the finish line. Thank you to everyone that participated in our inaugural walk today without your support we would not have been able to raise close to $20k.
Here are some pictures of our journey - enjoy! We certainly did.

Royal Rehab walks to support the Walk Against Youth Violence –
“Unfortunately, we see far too many victims of violence like Liam Knight in our Brain and Spinal Injury Units, and a very high proportion of these are the consequence of mindless drunken behaviour. Royal Rehab is proud to add its voice of support to this important community message”.
Stephen Lowndes, CEO Royal Rehab.

Today was the start of our training and we did from Kirribilli to Balmoral - it was hot and humid - but this walk is glorious. See pictures below:-
These were all on the Cremorne Point part of the walk - just breathtaking.
These pictures were Bradley's Head heading toward Balmoral.
These were taken at Balmoral after we had a very refreshing swim and a well deserved coffee!

Thursday 22nd January - 2nd training walk
We started at Balmoral Beach and walked over the Spit Bridge and did the Spit to Manly walk. This part of the walk is also gorgeous and covered by shade - which was very welcome. Photos below.

Looking back at Bathers Pavillion, Balmoral
For those of you that want to walk the last 2.8kms to the finish line, this is the Dobroyd Head sign where you will come onto the track, just down the stairs behind this sign.

3rd Training Walk : Kirribilli to George's Heights
The weather was kinder to us this week with no humidity and a beautiful sea breeze. This made the training much easier. We came across a bush turkey in Kirribilli - who would have thought!
Then onto Sirius Cove
Then Taronga Zoo
Keep on going around to Bradley's Head
and a small waterfall. The walk was fresh with lots of running water after the rain we had earlier in the week.
Down to Clifton Gardens
Some of the stairs seemed steeper or maybe we had just forgotten about them - anyway up we went and then down we went. We made good time, ran into some people we knew on the way and had a great coffee at Balmoral after we had finished.

We had a short training walk on Sunday 15th February - it was hot and humid again - but we got it done early so it wasn't too bad.
Here are some photos from the Manly to Spit part of the walk.
Some wild flora and new sandstone steps
More beautiful views.....

this is the track near the end of the walk - coming into Fairlight
Next long training walk - Kirribilli to Clontarf - will be Thursday 5th March. Feel free to join us! Start 7am.

The White Knight Foundation (The Trustee For)
The White Knight Foundation is here to draw attention to the prevalence and absolute stupidity of unprovoked youth violence whilst raising funds to young victims and their families to help them on their journey to recovery.
The White Knight Foundation was established in August 2013 from the result of a non-provoked attack on Liam Knight, where a 2.8m long steel rod was thrown, striking Liam, piercing through his skull.
Fortunately, Liam survived, but he continues to endure a long road of rehabilitation from the brain damage he suffered.
After months of witnessing Liam’s determination and fight to get back to his former self, it was evident that there are other victims that need help and support so they too, can get back to their physical and mental best.
