Story

Hi Friends!

An introduction from the Friends Of Nepal Association to my fundraising:

“We’re creating a beautiful and inspiring community hub for learning and development for all the community. The facility is world class both in its built form and the programs and services run through it, with a focus on applied learning in agriculture, technology and innovation.

It will result in a globally-connected and sustainable village, providing equitable access to education that applies the latest pedagogical models and thinking.

Through skills training, capacity building, mentoring and access to markets, this model will support the village community to shift from subsistence to independence, to start new businesses and grow new industry.”

Now, I’m fundraising to enable the fitting out of and the supply of musical instruments and most importantly the wage for a music teacher for a dedicated music room and program in a new state of the art Education Centre in regional Nepal. This is the second stage of my fundraising. The first stage contributed to the construction of the facility and it’s infrastructure.

In 2015 Nepal was struck by a series of devastating earthquakes. In the wake of these, 3.5 million people were left homeless and without jobs and schools to return to.

In the weeks following April 2015, my brother in law and sister, Amit and Sarah Thapa, founded the Friends Of Nepal Association. Initially FONA raised awareness and funding to aid relief. Amit and Sarah quickly identified the need not only for new schools, but for state of the art learning facilities.

6 very busy and challenging years later and FONA had become an internationally recognised registered charity and the first learning centre the PURANO JHANGAJHOLI EDUCATION CENTRE has been designed and built!

Please join me in helping to make this happen!

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to FONA. All relevant tax paperwork for businesses and individuals are also available here.

Thanks so much for your support!
