Alex is cutting his beautiful hair for a beautiful cause

Story

Bonjour everyone smiley

I am shaving my head for a good cause.

Each year, millions of people around the world, young and old, men and women, are diagnosed with cancer.

While there has been great progress in research into many cancers in the last few years, more funds are needed to ensure researchers have the latest technology and equipment.

As such, I want to raise money to help scientific minds take on ground-breaking cancer research, so that we can get rid of this desease.

Similarly, I want to donate my hair to the victims, to make their daily life a bit more normal.

On my side, shaving my head might sound basic but will have dramatic consequences on my life, as 99.9% of my charm lies in my hair! Goodbye social life. Farewell Parisian style... At least for the next two to three months.

But that doesn't matter. The only thing that does your support!

What sort of support?

Help me raise funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. The goal? Replacing each hair with a dollar. Or something like that. How many hairs do I have? I don't know. But at least 500. So let's try to reach this target together.

What do you get in return?

First of all, you will probably feel good about yourself for helping a good cause (helping a desperate Frenchman get through the loss of his hair) and another good cause (Cancer research).

Secondly, I would like to give something back too.

Every donor will be invited to the shaving ceremony. The place is still TBD.

If you donate 25 dollars, I will send you a postcard, wherever you are!

If you donate 50 dollars or more, I will let you cut one of my 6 lock of hair. It's not to keep it, though. I will send it to an organisation that does wigs for kids who have cancer.

When will I shave them?

We will organise a ceremony in early-October. Hope to see you there!

Thanks a lot and merci beaucoup!

Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF)

At Australian Cancer Research Foundation, we know that only brilliant ideas can tackle something as big as cancer. That is why since 1984, we have given scientists the technology, equipment and infrastructure they need for pioneering research. From small vaccines to big machines our funding has supported some of the biggest outcomes in cancer research, across Australia.

Over the last 40 years, we have invested $184 million into 86 cancer research projects across 44 institutions.

ACRF supporters have backed landmark projects such as; the development of the world’s first cancer vaccine (for cervical cancer), the establishment of a precision medicine program working towards the goal of zero deaths from childhood cancer and the creation of the innovative MRI-Linac which will improve patient outcomes and reduce the trauma associated with radiation therapy. By funding research that seeks to progress and transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL cancers, we are committed to our vision of one day reaching a world without cancer.
