Story
Hi there!
Did you know just 3.6kms from Australia lies a country of which 80% of it's nation is off the electrical grid?
Australia and Papua New Guinea have one of the greatest social and economic disparities in the world for two countries who share such a close distance and historical relationship.
As thousands of young Australian men risked and even lost their lives to fight for the life we live today, beside them walked angels protecting and guiding them to safety. Between the two, formed a relationship they thought time could never defy.
Yet now, 76 years later and the disparity couldn't be greater between these two sister nations
While we here in Australia face time our loved ones from 38,000ft above the ground or bid to win a ticket to the moon and back, our closest neighbours live in darkness, most with no access to health care, education or even Light.
Our team will be Crossing Kokoda to raise awareness of this very disparity and Honour the wish of our fallen soldiers. We will then join KTF, SolarBuddy and On Track Expeditions in a project that aims to provide energy saving light to each and every home along the Kokoda track!!
We kindly ask of you please, that this November when you buy your Poppy, play Two-Up or have a beer in memory of our dear soldiers that you remember also our dear friends who guided them on their way.
Please give to the people of Papua New Guinea what was so freely given to us during our darkest hours... HOPE.
Not only would your act of kindness be showing your gratitude and respect to the people of our closest neighbour, it would also honour the wish of some of the soldiers who fought for us.

KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation)
We're an Aussie NGO that works with people and communities to improve lives, livelihoods and futures of Papua New Guineans, keeping the spirit of Kokoda alive.
Expanding beyond our original focus region of Kokoda in Oro Province, KTF now works with communities across 16 of PNG’s 22 provinces....and we have big plans for 2021 and beyond.
We operate programs in the vital areas of education, health, equality and leadership.
Over the past decade, we have delivered a range of projects including the construction of school and aid post infrastructure along and around theKokoda Track, delivery of educational supplies to 20 schools and drugs and medical supplies to 15 aid posts, postings of 15 teachers and over a dozen communityhealth workers, distribution of over 32,000 solar lights across the country, installation of 1,000+ household solar units in the Kokoda catchment, establishment of businesses by Women’s Groups in five provinces and the design and delivery of the Archer Leadership program to find and foster PNG’s future leaders for 10 years.
600+ students currently have a second chance at education, studying Grades 9 to 12 via Flexible Open Distance Education at Kokoda College, Balimo College and the Motu Koita FODE Centre. We have trained 3,685 elementary teachers via our Teach for Tomorrow project and supported the ongoing professional development for teachers via Teach for Tomorrow II, upskilling 220+ teacher trainers. Teach for Tomorrow, the Early Years is developing and implementing Early Childhood Education frameworks in conjunction with provincial Departments of Education. Our network of coaches in Western Province is also working with a core group of 37 elementary teachers to build their teaching skills.
