The Em Effect Quiz for a Cause Night
The Em Effect Quiz for a Cause Night
Story
Hi there!
My name is Brenton Smith, and I am the founder of The Em Effect, a not-for-profit organization that donates all proceeds to various registered Australian charities that support patients living with blood cancer and those that undertake medical research aimed at improving the treatment options available to those patients.
On Saturday 5th June 2021, we are hosting The Em Effect Quiz for a Cause Night to raise funds for critical research into blood cancers to help provide more Australian patients with better treatments and better lives.
All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to The Australasian Leukemia and Lymphoma Group (ALLG).
Blood cancers combined are now the second most diagnosed cancers in Australia, and the second most common cause of cancer-related deaths in the country.
Every year, 17,321 Australians will be newly diagnosed with blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma and this number is due to double by 2035 unless something is done. Every year, 17,321 Australians will be newly diagnosed with blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma and this number is due to double by 2035 unless something is done.
In Australia today, 47 Australians will be told they have a blood cancer, and 15 people will lose their battle with the disease, with blood cancer claiming the lives of more than 5,600 people each year.
Blood cancer does not discriminate. It can develop in anyone, can occur at any age and at any stage of life across all states and territories, from children to adolescents and young adults to working adults with families and older Australians. Sadly, there are no screening programs available for blood cancers and there is no way to prevent blood cancer through lifestyle change.
If you are unable to attend our Quiz for a Cause Night, any contribution that you might be able to make would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks so much for your support!
Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group (ALLG)
The ALLG is the only not-for-profit collaborative clinical research group in Australia and New Zealand dedicated to finding new ways to treat blood cancers such as leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood disorders.
By conducting national and international collaborative clinical trials at sites across Australia and New Zealand, ALLG researchers are helping patients access new drugs or receive new treatments that are not yet available for clinical practice.
Helping us to fund more quality clinical trials means you will be helping to advance medical knowledge and improve the treatment, care and quality of life for cancer patients. Visit www.allg.org.au to find out more about the impact of your donation.
