CLAN Trivia Night
CLAN Trivia Night
Story
During lockdown, there is no better way to connect with friends, test your knowledge and contribute to a good cause than CLAN’s Zoom Trivia Fundraising Night. We’ve created an exciting program, with questions from topics including general knowledge, TV and movies, music, geography and CLAN’s work, to raise both money and awareness for CLAN and its mission. Our Zoom Trivia Night is raising money for the Epilepsy Community in Uganda, Africa.
CLAN has been proud to support efforts for and with the Nodding Syndrome and Epilepsy Communities of Uganda since 2017. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, our regular community development activities have been hampered so we have consulted with the Epilepsy Community of Butabika Referral Hospital to better understand their needs and priorities at this time.
Members of the Epilepsy Community have suggested smartphone and internet access will help families connect with one another and also communicate more easily with their healthcare professionals. CLAN hopes to purchase mobile phones and data plans for Community leaders and members living in the most vulnerable circumstances. Each phone and data plan will cost AUD$250, and will remain the property of the Epilepsy Community of Butabika Hospital. We hope to purchase 10 phones to help the Community grow stronger and more connected. Once a family gets on their feet and are able to afford to buy their own phone, the CLAN phone will transfer to another family in need. CLAN thanks Dr Andrew Twineamatsiko and Dr Birabwa for their support with this initiative.
Hosted by Billy Ijaz and coordinated by Sienna Gates and Grace Strik on behalf of CLAN, this trivia night will be a fantastic night of competition, connection and contribution. Our fundraising goal for this event is $500 (to help two families have access to phones), and we would love for your contribution to help get us there! If you are able to donate, please do so here, and you can register to be a part of this great night by entering your information into this survey!
Teams will be made up of the people who call in together from each household, so tell your friends, grab a partner or gather your family and join us on the 16th of September at 7pm (AEST) for a trivia night that will put the ‘fun’ in fundraiser!
You can stay up to date by following our social media accounts, where we post updates on CLAN’s work and other important information! CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours)
CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) is a not-for-profit, Non Government Organisation, established in Australia in 2004. Our vision is to maximise quality of life for children living with chronic health conditions in resource-poor countries of the world. These children suffer significant, preventable and inequitable morbidity, mortality and disability, and CLAN believes this situation is at odds with the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. CLAN is currently working to help children who are living with Diabetes, Autism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), Duchenne Muscular Dystropy (DMD) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) amongst others, and we collaborate with partners in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines.
