Carillon City
Story
Help Carillon City lend a helping hand by raising $10,000 for Dress for Success, a not-for-profit organisation empowering women to achieve financial independence through gainful employment.
The money raised from this campaign will go towards services to support these women by providing professional clothing for interviews, resume assistance, job support mentoring and career development workshops.
Help these women who have faced enormous challenges restore their conference and prepare them to re-enter the workforce, make meaningful connections and work towards financial independence.
Thanks so much for your support!
Dress for Success Perth (Ready to Work Inc)
“It’s not about where you’ve been. It’s about where you are going that matters”
Dress for Success Perth is a social enterprise with a mission to empower women to achieve economic independence by building their confidence, self esteem and resilience. We offer women in need a comprehensive suite of career development services and networking opportunities to assist them to return to the workplace. We provide women with appropriate work attire to attend job interviews/career events, one to one mentoring, mock interview practice, resume assistance and deliver a series of career/life workshops. Our organisation is volunteered powered by professionals with backgrounds in a diverse range of careers including social work, law, business, teaching, healthcare, government and career coaching.
The women we help often experience a feeling of hopelessness, poor confidence, suffer isolation and are at risk of long-term unemployment. Many have limited access to professional career development services and networking groups and believe they have limited opportunities in the labour market. Dress for Success Perth believe that all women should have equal access to high quality career development services regardless of their circumstances.
Our clients are women who possess significant barriers to entry into the workforce. This includes:
• Victims of domestic violence
• Women carers
• Women with disabilities
• Women trying to re-enter the workplace after raising a family
• Youth at risk
• Teenage mothers re-entering the workplace
• Women retrenched from the economic downturn in WA
• Indigenous women
• Refugees and Migrant women
• Women from correctional facilities
• Tenants of social housing
We aim to furnish our clients with confidence by providing them with not only the professional attire but improved career knowledge and career “self management” skills to empower them on their employment journey. Our programs are designed to enable our clients to re-discover their strengths and skills and build a sense of self- efficacy, reduce any unconscious bias they may have and enhance their self-confidence to move forward in their career and life.
The clothing that we provide our clients is largely donated by the Western Australian public. We promote sustainable fashion where nothing goes to waste. We are committed to delivering on our primary service: to style our clients and ‘dress them for success’. We will always ensure that donated clothing is prioritised for our clients, and that surplus items are then distributed for sustainability, disposed of ethically and according to the best interests of our service and the planet.
We are proud finalists of the 2018 United Nations Australia Gender Equality Promotion Awards.
Dress for Success Perth believe the it is not where you have been that matters, but where you are going.
