Chambo Challenge
Chambo Challenge
Story
On the 12th of April 10 team members, including event patron Janny Poate, mother of fallen soldier Robbie Poate, will set off on the Chamberlain Foundation’s “Chambo Challenge”.
Pete Chamberlain has chosen to embark on this challenge of a lifetime trekking 250km’s from boots in the water on the NSW South Coast to the highest point in Australia, the top of mount Kosciusko to raise awareness and much needed funds for Lifeline Canberra to support first responders, service men and women experiencing mental health issues and who are at risk of suicide.
Many of us know someone one effected by mental health issues. On the 23rd of July 2015 Pete Chamberlain was personally affected in a most terrible way. His best mate, considered to be his brother, Robbie McMullen, took his own life leaving behind 3 young children, a loving family and friends. Robbie’s death is something he has struggled to come to terms with, not only grieving his death but constantly questioning what he could have done differently to prevent it.
Did he miss a sign, should he have seen it coming, could he have changed the outcome?
I ask that you please share this post with your family and friends whilst donating as much as you can to help Pete and his team make a difference.
The proceeds from this challenge will be used to fund pilot programs identified by both Lifeline and the Chamberlain Foundation in an attempt to further curb the instance of suicide and help our service men and women and first responders cope with the effects of PTSD.
