Story
Hi there!
Welcome and thanks for checking out my page.
I'm going to the Philippines from April 26 to May 6 2024 as part of an Australian medical team of 40 volunteers to provide clinical services at two underprivileged localities as well as a community orphanage. The team consists of medical doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses and many others to assist with what is needed to see over 450 patients each day. I'm hoping my experience as a former GP and now hospital psychiatrist will be helpful.
Each volunteer is fully funding our own airfare, accommodation, meals etc but I am hoping for your support with raising funds for other costs such as essential medical, dental, optical and other supplies to operate our pro-bono clinics. These funds will go towards the purchase of medicine, hospital costs for certain patients (in the event of a serious illness), glasses, necessities for the local orphanage and vital equipment for the clinic. It is important to note that every volunteer pays their own way and isn't funded from any donations received. All funds received (save for administrative charges by Go Fundraise) will go directly to the cause itself and are fully tax deductible.
To put things into perspective, here' are a few examples of the impact your donation will have:
$25 - provides necessary medication for 5 patients
$50 - provides correct vision/sight for 10 people
$100 - provides medication for 10 patients and glasses for 10 people
It doesn't cost much to provide basic healthcare in the Philippines and every single dollar will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of those living in poverty in the Philippines.
Thank you once again for your interest and coming to my page and reading about this medical mission trip. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Also, there are many other ways of supporting me, this cause and our team, including prayer, sending us a message of support as well as supporting our other fundraising efforts.
Previous Medical Missions can be viewed via Facebook (www.facebook.com/fgampmmt/) Although this is my first time going, there have been 11 others over the years.
