Story
Hi there!
Welcome and thanks for checking out my page and thank you in advance for your generous contribution to this wonderful cause.
Last year I was blessed to be part of the 2024 Philippines Medical Mission Trip (PMMT) organised by Full Gospel Assembly Melbourne (FGAM). I have been accepted again as a volunteer and will be heading back to Manila in a few weeks for PMMT 2025. The mission trip will be from April 26 to May 6, 2025.
I will be part of an Australian team of 50 volunteers who will be providing clinical services at two underprivileged localities as well as a community orphanage/residential care facility. The team consists of medical doctors, dentists, optometrists, nurses, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist as well many non-medical support staff. This year we are hoping to treat at least 2500 patients, which roughly equates to over 600 patients per clinic day. Last year I was able to use both my skills as a former GP and those from my current work as a hospital and community psychiatrist.
Each volunteer is fully self-funded, meaning we cover our own airfare, accommodation, meals, transfers etc. but we need help with raising funds for other costs such as essential medical, dental, optical and other supplies to operate our pro-bono clinics. These funds will go towards the purchase of medicine, hospital costs for certain patients (in the event of a serious illness), reading and prescription glasses, necessities for the local orphanage and vital equipment for the clinic. It is important to note that every volunteer pays their own way and isn't funded from any donations received. All funds received (save for administrative charges by Go Fundraise) will go directly to the cause itself and are fully tax deductible.
To put things into perspective, here are a few examples of the impact your donation will have:
💊 $25 - Provides necessary medication for 5 patients
👓 $50 - Restores and corrects vision for 10 people
🦷 $100 - Covers dental treatment for 50 patients
It doesn't cost much to provide basic healthcare in the Philippines and every single dollar will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of those living in poverty in the Philippines.
Thank you once again for your interest and coming to my page and reading about this medical mission trip. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated. Also, there are many other ways of supporting me, this cause and our team, including prayer, sending us a message of support as well as supporting our other fundraising efforts.
