Cold Plunge For Those in Need
Cold Plunge For Those in Need
Story
Why cold plunge?
The Saint Vincent De Paul Society aims to offer a hand up ( not just a hand out ) to people in need. In the cold winter months, there are many families who struggle to keep warm. The money raised for Vinnies in the cold plunge for those in need goes towards our Vinnies Youth Home visitation program. This will help back our volunteers who visit these families to offer them means of support and especially warmth. An example of this is through our shop vouchers for free blankets and warm clothing, or financial counselling to allow for a budget that can afford cheap home heating. This money will also be going towards our Vinnies Youth Buddy Day program to offer children from these families, a day of fun and friendship, in such a cold winter period.
Will you immerse yourselves and feel how it feels to be so cold this winter?
Thank you in advance, and look forward to seeing you on the day.
If not, we would gratefully accept your donation.
Kind regards
Nathan Morrissey

St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc (Vinnies SA)
Operating since 1884, the Society in South Australia has over 2500 members and volunteers in 64 Conferences, 34 Vinnies Centres and numerous Special Works. They work together, supported by dedicated staff, to relieve not only the immediate requirements of those in need, but to identify the deep and long-term causes leading to financial and social hardship in our community, and provide a voice for the disadvantaged.
Each year the Society assists over 100,000 South Australians. This help is not limited to providing material goods, food and shelter, but extends to providing support, relief from loneliness and encouragement for people to help themselves. Vinnies relies largely on the generosity of donations from the public, and any surplus generated goes directly to supporting the Society’s good works, which provide a range of services to people facing disadvantage.
Our services include;
Conferences - Serving people in need on a one to one basis.
Vinnies Shops - Providing quality pre-loved clothing, household goods and furniture for people in need.
