Story

Hi everyone!

The Philippines Medical Mission Trip (PMMT) is a mission/volunteer trip that has been in the running for over 10 years, organised by my church, Full Gospel Assembly Melbourne situated in Box Hill South.

Growing up, I have been very fortunate to have a family, the opportunity to migrate to a country like Australia, attain education, and most of all, have my basic needs met (i.e. shelter, food, education, health and medical needs). However, I have also been very fortunate to learn the value of money and the privilege I was born into, and that what I have are to be shared.

This year, together with the team, I will be spending a week and a half in two impoverished areas in Manila, Philippines providing free medical and dental care to the less fortunate.

There will be roughly a group of 40 volunteers participating in this trip, comprised of doctors, dentists and non-medical support staff. Our aim will be to provide care to at least 2,500 people during our visit as well as assess and provide for the needs of the local orphanage. As a team, we are looking to raise a total of $35,000 to fund the necessary medical, dental, optical and other supplies to operate our pro-bono clinics and provide the highest level of care and treatment possible for each and every patient. These funds will go directly towards the purchase of medicine, hospital costs for certain patients (in the event of a serious illness), glasses, necessities for the local orphanage and vital equipment for the clinic.

It is important to note that every volunteer will be paying their own way and isn't funded at all from any donations received. 100% of the funds received (save for administrative charges by Go Fundraise) will go directly to the cause itself.

To put things into perspective of the approximate of the potential impact that you may have:

$25 - provides necessary medication for 5 patients

$50 - provides correct vision/sight for 10 people

$100 - provides medication for 10 patients and glasses for 10 people

It doesn’t cost much to provide basic healthcare in the Philippines and every single dollar will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of those living in poverty in the Philippines.

Thanks for reading about the PMMT trip and I hope that you will be able to support generously. There are other ways to supporting this cause and our team including a message of support, though if you would like to know more please reach out!

Donations made through this platform are secure, tax-deductible and will be remitted directly through to funding for the PMMT trip.

As a starting point, I have made a contribution to the cause in the sum of $1,000.

Thanks and be blessed,

- Daniel Ong
