Hannah's Hair for Pantene to raise funds for Australian Cancer Research

Story

We are very proud parents to a beautiful 7 year old daughter named Hannah. Hannah is very advanced for such a young girl. She has a sweet and sensitive nature and a very big kind heart. For the people who know her they will tell you about how adorably lovely she is.

Hannah was born deaf in her right ear but that has never stopped her light from shining bright. She graduated from the programme she was undergoing through Hear and Say Australia in 2015 after 3 years. Her speech therapist helped with the development of her listening and speech. Hannah is now in grade 2 at St. Peter's Primary School and this year was asked to be apart of the advanced reading programme. A while ago Hannah heard from a good friend about the children's cancer ward and how because of chemo those precious children lost their hair. This made Hannah sad and she spent about a week pondering and asking lots of questions. Eventually Hannah decided she wanted to donate her beautiful long hair to Pantene (for women) and raise money for the children who have lost their hair.

To be quite honest myself and Hannah's dad were not very keen on the idea of her chopping off her stunning long locks. Being a parent is hard when you know that your child has good intentions and you have to accept their good hearted ideas even when you find it hard to accept.

On Sunday 22nd of October my mum Brenda (who happens to be a hairdresser of 30 plus years) had the honour of cutting off 9 inches of Hannah's hair. Yes......I cried....then Hannah cried because I was crying. Then she hugged me and looked at me with her big beautiful hazel eyes and smile so big, she just melts my heart.

Today we are posting her hair away to Pantene (click on link for more info about them) https://www.pantene.com.au/en-au/brandexperience/make-the-cut

We are hoping to raise $1000 to donate to 2 charities, this is for The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (click on link for more info about them)

We are so proud of Hannah!!! Changing the world one little step at a time. If you could join with us to raise money for such a worthy cause we'd be eternally grateful

Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF)

At Australian Cancer Research Foundation, we know that only brilliant ideas can tackle something as big as cancer. That is why since 1984, we have given scientists the technology, equipment and infrastructure they need for pioneering research.

From small vaccines to big machines our funding has supported some of the biggest outcomes in cancer research, across Australia. ACRF supporters have backed landmark projects such as; the development of the world’s first cancer vaccine (for cervical cancer), the establishment of a precision medicine program working towards the goal of zero deaths from childhood cancer and the creation of the innovative MRI-Linac which will improve patient outcomes and reduce the trauma associated with radiation therapy.

By funding research that seeks to progress and transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL cancers, we are committed to our vision of one day reaching a world without cancer.
