Sydney- City to Surf.
Story
On Sunday the 12th August I will be running the Sydney, City to Surf. 14k from the centre of the City to Bondi beach. I am by no means a runner (at all!!) and will be doing this to raise money for NF Australia.
Since my early teens I have been in and out of hospital, poked, proded and no one knew what was wrong with me. 16 years and 5 operations later I finally have some answers.
Schwannomatosis- a rare form of NF which effects about 1:40,000 people. Lucky for me I have a very mild form of the condition known as 'mosaic' meaning it is isolated to an individual part of the body. But for many others the condition is much much worse.
NF1, NF2 and Schwannomatosis are still somewhat unknown and as such no cure has yet been found. Charities like NF Australia need funding to continue to research what casues the condition.
My hope is that by helping to raise money I can prevent other children and young people from living with an unknown condition and hopefully find effective treatment.
