Friends of Nepal Earthquake Appeal - Red Cross
Story
Friends,
I was born in the village of Sindhuli, Nepal where my father's family has a long and proud heritage. My mother comes from a village in Gorkha to the west of Kathmandu, the area which was at the epicentre of the earthquake. The 7.9 magnitude earthquake which struck Nepal has completely flattened the villages of Gorkha and across Nepal. Out of the thousands of houses that once stood in these villages only 2 or 3 remain standing. This is completely devastating for an already impoverished nation. In the wake of this disaster, Nepal is desperately calling for aid.
I am personally moved to provide all the assistance I can to help ensure humanitarian aid reaches the Nepalese people to provide immediate relief. For this reason I am seeking your support to donate to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief Appeal. The Red Cross has local operations on the ground, searching for survivors in the rubble of collapsed buildings and providing medical aid, blood supplies and search and recovery assistance.
This is a critical time for provision of life-saving humanitarian aid to the victims of this disaster, and I am very grateful for your support.
