Story
The Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF) is the peak body for providing support to sufferers and their families, creating awareness about Alopecia Areata in all its forms and funding research toward a cure or acceptable treatment.
The AAAF runs entirely on the work of volunteers, and 100% of money raised goes towards realising our mission.
My family, like many others, has been impacted by Alopecia Areata, and I am very focused on finding a cure and providing support for sufferers and their families.
To coincide with International Alopecia Awareness Day 2015 (August 1), and to raise much needed funding towards support, awareness and research for a cure, a team is being assembled to lose the locks for AAAF.
Shaving one's head is very symbolic. It shows empathy toward sufferers and creates awareness.
Hopefully we raise plenty of money which helps provide support to people with Alopecia and their families and importantly helps fund research that moves us ever closer to a cure or acceptable treatment.

Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc. (AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
