Jenny Craig for TOE

Story

Jenny Craig Ringwood Staff and Clients are entering a team into the Brook's Spring into Shape Fun Run/Walk on Sunday 25th November. (4km Walk/Run, 8km Walk/Run or 14.8km Run)

Everyone at Jenny Craig is asking you to get on board to support this great initiative!!!

We're helping ourselves by keeping active and now while were doing it we want to raise funds to help make a difference in the lives of local young woman at the same time.

Your participation and fundraising effort will support Jesuit Social Services’ program, The Outdoor Experience (TOE). TOE provides outdoor adventure programs for young people who have, or have had, problems with alcohol and/or drug use. Each program takes a maximum of 10 young people on extended wilderness journeys and ventures to some of the most remote places in Victoria. This program provides significant opportunities for participants to develop healthy relationships with self, others and the environment and helps them to overcome challenges in their lives.

Some reflections from TOE participants:

“This program has been life changing for me. I just feel like a different person and I know this could change my life if I use the opportunity well.”

“Since being home I’ve noticed that I have been able to stay calm in an argument.  This is new for me, because normally I just lose it, but I stayed calm, kept my voice down and managed to say ‘now where will this get us?’”

“Now I have done TOE I feel like I can acknowledge the positive things about myself instead of always focusing on the negative.”

“It was fun, but there were hard things too.  That’s life, you’ve got to stick with it through the bad stuff, it can’t be good all the time. You’ve got to work to get the good things.”

The TOE program does not have funding to run a women’s program. TOE has had many requests from young women who would like to participate in a TOE adventure however they have had to be turned away and currently, there aren’t any similar programs running elsewhere to refer them to.

Please dig deep in your pockets to support us, we'll be digging deep on the day!!
