Story
Hi everyone!
Thank you in advance for your generous contribution to this cause that is incredibly dear to my heart. PMMT 2023 is a mission/volunteer trip organised by my church, Full Gospel Assembly Melbourne. We'll be spending a week in two impoverished areas in Manila, Philippines providing free medical and dental care to the less fortunate. Having been on this trip twice in 2016 and 2017, I've witnessed first hand the need that exists and also experienced the amazing and incredible impact that we can have on their lives. This will be the first time in three years that this trip has been possible (due to COVID restrictions) and there's no doubt that there is going to be a huge need.
This year, we're expecting a group of 20 people to participate in the trip, comprising of doctors, dentists and non-medical support staff. Our aim will be to provide care to at least 1,500 people during our visit as well as assess and provide for the needs of the local orphanage. As a team, we're looking to raise a total of $20,000 to fund the necessary medical, dental, optical and other supplies to operate our pro-bono clinics and provide the highest level of care and treatment possible for each and every patient. These funds will go towards the purchase of medicine, hospital costs for certain patients (in the event of a serious illness), glasses, necessities for the local orphanage and vital equipment for the clinic. It is important to note that every volunteer pays their own way and isn't funded from any donations received. All funds received (save for administrative charges by Go Fundraise) will go directly to the cause itself.
To put things into perspective, here's an approximate indication of the potential impact that your donation will have:
$25 - provides necessary medication for 5 patients
$50 - provides correct vision/sight for 10 people
$100 - provides medication for 10 patients and glasses for 10 people
It doesn't cost much to provide basic healthcare in the Philippine's and every single dollar will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of those living in poverty in the Philippines. Thank you for reading about our medical mission trip and we hope that you'll make a contribution. Also, there are heaps of other ways of supporting this cause and our team, including prayer, sending us a message of support as well as supporting our other fundraising efforts. Please feel free to speak to your connection to find out more about how you can get involved. Thanks again and God bless!
