Story
Hi fabulous family and friends
We are really looking forward to celebrating our wedding with you and as part of our commitment to a simple life we are asking for no presents, your presence is the best gift we can hope to receive. That said, many people have expressed they would like to commemorate the day with something for us, so in the spirit of giving, we are planning to support our favourite charity ‘Hands Across the World’. Jo is a volunteer for this not-for-profit.
Hands Across the World runs an Interactive Teacher Training Program that works with under-privileged Cambodia teachers who teach and live in small impoverished villages in the more remote areas of Siem Reap, where there is limited or non-existent government support.
Our program develops these teachers’ education skills over a six-month period enabling them to empower their pupils through better quality education to break the cycle of poverty and thus lower their risk of being exploited in these ways.
Where your money goes on the ground in Cambodia
$60 – will cover the cost for purposefully designed course materials, the printing and any other materials needed
$200 – will provide all the food and drink supplied during the course to teachers who often arrive hungry and tired and need this boost to help concentration.
$500 – will provide the classroom space for half of the course
$1000 – will fund the highly experienced English language teaching team to deliver this course

Hands Across the World
Hands Across the World's mission is to tackle the atrocities of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and human slave labour through education programs. Empowerment of the local people and prevention of these outrageous crimes.
The main means through which we aim to achieve this is education. We believe education is the great equalizer and the key to preventing these atrocities. It also provides opportunities by empowering people to create a brighter future for the whole community.
The 'Interactive Teacher Training' was formed in response to the low-quality teaching methodology in poor rural communities around Siem Reap. Here teachers from marginalized communities come together to learn quality teaching techniques, these teachers then spread their skills and knowledge within their remote community schools to the children. These students then have a chance to move away from potential dangers of human trafficking, sexual exploitation and human slave labour.
