Bert Pitfield

Story

Mountains of Madness are stalwarts of the Hobart heavy metal music scene, having played their brand of heavy rock music to local audiences for over 5 years.

Drummer, Bert Pitfield has a strong connection to a local family who has been devastated by Muscular Dystrophy.

Bert’s good mate Mitch died in 2015. His brother Rhys died of the same disease in 2014 .

So when Bert heard the Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania Golf Day was canceled this year due to the Coronavirus, he wanted to make a small contribution to the charity by organising a fundraiser that is suitable for these socially distant times.

And what better way of raising some money than by shaving off his iconic sideburns. Something that has been on the side of his head for 20 years.

It’s a small way to have a bit of fun, help bring the community together in these challenging times and raise some money for a charity that is entirely volunteer-run, and dependent on donations to survive.

Bert will be shaving his sideburns on the Mountains of Madness Facebook page on the 1st of May. Done in a socially distant manner – of course! Like the page, so you don’t miss out on the action!

I'm making a difference and running for a cause that's close to my heart. I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.

Thanks so much for your support!
