Early Learning Books For Mimili, SA
Early Learning Books For Mimili, SA
Story
Together with the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, we are hoping to raise the funds to help support 30 Book Buzz packs to be donated to the Mimili Community School and Families. Mimili Community is located on the Pitjantjatjara Lands of North West South Australia.
ILF's Book Buzz literacy packs provides literacy resources for babies and toddlers in the home, providing the best opportunity for literacy development for children in isolated communities. Each pack contains 10 books in a beautiful bright drawstring bag, and costs $140AUD. We together with the ILF are aiming to provide Mimili community with 30 packs by the end of 2012.
All donations, no matter how big or small, would be greatly cherished and contribute directly to increasing the access for young Indigenous Australians to books.
Cash donations are welcome, or for online tax deductible donations visit: http://www.gofundraise.com.au/page/MimiliBooks2012

Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Our purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books - with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
Please visit our website for more information about our programs.
