Story
A few years ago I participated in the annual Roughtober sleepout which completely changed my perspective on homelessness. It was one of the most challenging experiences for me, but helped me appreciate how lucky I am and how much we need to address this growing issue of homelessness in Sydney.
On Friday 26 October, I'll be sleeping rough again to raise funds for Rough Edges - a cafe for the homeless, disadvantaged or otherwise marginalised in the Kings Cross and Darlinghurst area.

St John's Community Services Limited (Rough Edges)
St John's Community Services Limited was established to fund and maintain a number of targeted services for the disadvantaged and marginalised in the Darlinghurst and Kings Cross area. Including:
Rough Edges Cafe - a place for the street community to have a coffee, enjoy a free meal and spend time together in a safe and welcoming environment
Banksia Women - a safe, judgement free space for women who have experienced domestic and family violence
St Johns Legal Service - we contract a solicitor to assist those needing help with free legal services and referrals
Community Assistance and Partnership Program (CAPP) - hospitality and practical assistance is provided by social workers for those seeking to exit the cycle of poverty
