NAB Pride - Wear it Purple day
NAB Pride - Wear it Purple day
Story
NAB is taking part in Wear It Purple day on Friday 31 August – a day to raise funds and awareness for disadvantaged LGBTI+ youth.
Diversity and Inclusion are central to NAB’s enduring purpose and culture, and we are intensely proud of our diverse community partnerships.
The charity was founded in 2010 in response to the high profile suicides of several LGBTI+ youth.
Wear It Purple works with LGBTI+ youth to create a safe and supportive environment in which they can thrive, through mentoring and educating.
Wear it Purple Incorporated
Wear It Purple is an Australian charity founded in 2010 to support LGBTQIA+ young people and create safe, empowering environments where they feel seen, respected and celebrated.
Our purpose is to foster supportive, safe and inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA+ young people at school, at home, online and in their communities. Our vision is for all LGBTQIA+ young people to thrive, to feel a sense of belonging, to access safe communities, and to be free from discrimination.
Research continues to show that LGBTQIA+ young people face significantly higher rates of bullying, exclusion and mental health challenges. Still, we also know that acceptance, visibility and community support dramatically improve wellbeing and reduce risk. Wear It Purple Day is held on the last Friday in August each year. It is a national movement of schools, community groups, workplaces and families coming together to show LGBTQIA+ young people that they are loved, valued and supported for who they are.
Your donation directly supports:
Free resources for schools, educators and communities to help create safer, more inclusive environments
Youth-led programs and initiatives amplifying LGBTQIA+ young voices
National visibility and awareness campaigns, empowering young people to be proud of who they are
Participation in pride, community and cultural events, ensuring LGBTQIA+ youth see positive representation
Growth of Wear It Purple’s volunteer network, allowing us to reach more communities across Australia
Thank you for supporting Wear It Purple. Your generosity helps us continue creating a world where every LGBTQIA+ young person feels safe, supported and celebrated.
