COUSINS HAIR CUTTING FOR A CAUSE
COUSINS HAIR CUTTING FOR A CAUSE
Story
Hello,
My cousin Kalem and I are making a difference and shaving our heads to fundraise for a cause that's close to our hearts.
Uncle Wayne/Kalem’s dad, I prefer to call him my favourite uncle, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension in December of 2012 by the respiratory specialists at The Alfred Hospital. Treatment for this rare disease focuses on symptom management, but ultimately those that suffer from this disease require a lung transplant.
On 11th of September 2018, with thanks to the experts at The Alfred Hospital, Uncle Wayne was the successful recipient of a double lung transplant. After weeks in hospital and months of intensive rehabilitation at The Alfred, Uncle Wayne is home and enjoying life.
It’s our turn to give back to the expert community that changed my Uncle’s life. Kalem will be shaving of his short, but beautiful locks and as my dreadlocks are approaching their 15th birthday, I will be shaving them off.
We aim to raise funds to purchase vital equipment that is essential for the rehabilitation of lung transplant patients under the care of the Lung Transplant Physio Department at The Alfred Hospital.
We have a goal to raise $2500, to cover the cost of two pulse oximeters for the Lung Transplant Physio Department. The pulse oximeters are used to accurately measure oxygen saturation and pulse rates, an essential assessment tool during lung transplant rehabilitation.
Any donation, big or small will be greatly appreciated!
Come along on Sunday 11th of August to join us for an afternoon drink and hair shaving festivities from 1500hrs at The George Hotel (139 Cecil St, South Melbourne) .
Its time to shave off my dreadlocks after 15 years,
Please come and join us for laughter and cheers,
To raise awareness of Pulmonary Hypertension,
And funding for equipment to assist Lung Transplant Rehabilitation.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to The Alfred Foundation.
Thank you for your support!!
