Helping the OI Community in Vietnam celebrate Wishbone Day in 2014
Helping the OI Community in Vietnam celebrate Wishbone Day in 2014
Story
In November 2011 the Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) Community of Vietnam came together for the first time at a Club meeting at the National Hospital of Pediatrics (NHP) in Hanoi. There is more information available on this great day here on CLAN's website.
In May 2013, in celebration of Wishbone Day (held on 6 May every year) the OI Community of Vietnam came together again for support, encouragement, education and fun! In collaboration with the National Hospital of Pediatrics (Hanoi), Children's Hospital Westmead (CHW - Sydney Australia), Wishbone Day, CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) and the international OI Community, the children and families living with OI in Vietnam united as one to help us all learn more about the best ways to help the children enjoy the highest quality of life possible. Every child has a right to the most fulfilling life possible, and together we are committed to the brightest future possible for children in Vietnam who are living with OI.
In 2014 we hope to maintain the momentum! If you would like to help support the OI Community of Vietnam, please contribute to this fundraising event to facilitate ongoing work in 2014. Funds raised will go towards:
- ongoing collaborative efforts to run OI Club activities in 2014
- travel support for the poorest families to attend Club meetings;
- lunch and snacks for all families at meetings;
- travel by international experts, OI community members and health professionals to the Club meeting to assist with research and other projects to help improve quality of life in Vietnam;
- newsletters and other educational resources to be printed and shared free with all family members;
- conduct of a research project (to monitor and track changes to quality of life for the OI community over time) and...
- training sessions for health professionals in the management of OI
All funds will be managed by CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours), a not-for-profit NGO approved by AusAID for OAGDS, the Australian Taxation Office for tax deductibility status, and formally associated with the UNDPI/NGO.
Thank-you in advance for your support, and for helping the OI Community of Vietnam on their journey - working together we will see them will grow stronger and take their rightful place as valued members of the international OI Community!
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEAVE A MESSAGE OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND SUPPORT FOR THE OI COMMUNITY OF VIETNAM, PLEASE DO SO BELOW, AND WE WE WILL BE HAPPY TO PASS IT ON TO THE FAMILIES AT THE MEETING IN 2014!!!
CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours)
CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) is a not-for-profit, Non Government Organisation, established in Australia in 2004. Our vision is to maximise quality of life for children living with chronic health conditions in resource-poor countries of the world. These children suffer significant, preventable and inequitable morbidity, mortality and disability, and CLAN believes this situation is at odds with the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. CLAN is currently working to help children who are living with Diabetes, Autism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), Duchenne Muscular Dystropy (DMD) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) amongst others, and we collaborate with partners in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines.
