Hi All
Five weeks ago I was welcomed by 30 smiling faces to Mission Mexico; a small grassroots not-for-profit children’s refuge in
Tapachula, Mexico. The refuge, started by Australian couple Pam and Alan Skuse, resembles a family home rather than an institution, and it’s a home where the children feel loved and secure. Almost all of the children have suffered extreme poverty and abuse, and despite some having experienced unspeakable violence, they are some of the happiest and loving kids/young adults I have ever met.
Mission Mexico is currently developing a new food menu for the children. The aim is to implement a menu that offers the children more variety and nourishes them with a lot more fruit and vegetables. Even in the short time I’ve been here, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in the kids’ energy levels, attention span and sleeping patterns after having sufficient fruit and veg as part of meals.
I would love to be able to continue to support the children when I leave in a few weeks time, and for this reason I’m aiming to raise $1750 (AUD) which is enough money to ensure that the kids get sufficient fruit and vegetables for the next 3 months.
Even the smallest donation will be helping to make a big difference and will be so greatly appreciated. To give you an idea of how far your support can reach: approximately $5 provides a child with fresh fruit and vegetables for a week and $20 provides a child with fruit and vegetables for a month.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.

Mexican Children's Development (Mision Mexico) (Global Development Group - J731N)
Misión México (J731N) is a Global Development Group (GDG) approved aid and development project and has come a long way since 2000, when Australian founders Pamela and Alan Skuse made a life-changing decision and built a haven bringing safety and love to hundreds of children and young adults in Tapachula, Mexico.
Today, the organisation has grown into three children and youth homes, a community outreach centre and a non-for-profit hotel and surf school. Together, they aim to break cycles of poverty, abuse and inequality; providing opportunities for every child and youth that they care for to succeed. Through long-term solutions like education, practical and emotional care, and community development, they provide tools and opportunities for children and youth to advance in every aspect of their lives, becoming the best that they can be.
Together they are Misión México Foundation!
