Tamworth Legacy Centenary Celebration
Tamworth Legacy Centenary Celebration
Story
100 YEARS OF KEEPING THE PROMISE
Since the Legacy promise was made by a soldier to his dying mate in the trenches of WW1 to “look after the missus and the kids,” we have supported Australian Defence Force families in times of great need. Today, we support 40,000 partners and children of veterans who gave their lives or health while serving our country. 2023 is a landmark year for us as we celebrate our centenary. There are plenty of ways to be a part of this special milestone and make a difference in your local community.
ABOUT LEGACY
Established in 1923, Legacy is a unique Australian charity dedicated to caring for the families of deceased or seriously injured veterans. Our work can mean a child receives an education and a fair go, a widow is not disadvantaged or alone and a family is not torn apart by the effects of post-traumatic stress or other psychological injuries.
ABOUT US
Tamworth Legacy Club became an independent Club in 1948. Prior to that families were supported by local volunteers (Legatees) who acted as representatives for Legacy in NSW. Today, Tamworth Legacy has contact Groups in Barraba, Boggabri, Gunnedah, Manilla, Narrabri, Tamworth and Quirindi that continue on the good work of Legacy in our local communities.
