Team Spina Bifida Victoria 2015
Team Spina Bifida Victoria 2015
Story
We run/walk/wheel for those with spina bifida who find it difficult (or impossible) to get out and about. We want to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and the difficulties that come with having it, while also demonstrating that those with mobility difficulties can live full and active lives.
On July 26, we will be running, walking and wheeling at Run Melbourne.
Spina Bifida is the incomplete formation of the spine and spinal cord of the child while in the womb. People with spina bifida have varying degrees of difficulties including paralysis of the legs, incontinence and hydrocephalus (this is where the cerebrospinal fluid that flows around the brain is not able to drain or be reabsorbed, causing a build up of pressure around the brain). Spina bifida is a life-long condition with no cure.
This team is made up of people with spina bifida and those who have loved ones with the condition.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!
Spina Bifida Foundation Victoria
Spina Bifida Foundation Victoria (SBFV) helps people living with spina bifida to lead full, active and independent lives. We do this by providing family camps, ski trips, sailing days, social events, targeted Information sessions and workshops to people with spina bifida and their families. We also advocate for people with spina bifida to government, social services and the community. SBFV does not receive any government funding, and so the ability to continue our work relies on generous donations from the community and philanthropic grants.
