Story
On 31st August 2019, the love of my life tragically passed away in a horse racing accident. She was only 32 and had her entire life ahead of her. Melanie Tyndall had an incredible love for animals and in particular horses. In 2017 she quit racing professionally to pursue a career in the Northern Territory Police Force.
Due to her love of adrenaline, she took up racing again shortly after graduating from the Police academy. Mel had only recently joined the Australian Army Reserves, to follow in my footsteps as a current serving member of the Australian Regular Army. Mel had intended on giving up racing at the end of 2019 to purchase and small bit of property just out of Darwin where we would start a family together.
Following Mels passing, I met some amazing people who helped me through such a terrible stage of my life and was put in touch with NT Police Legacy. After attending the inaugural NT Police Legacy Ball of 2019, I heard of the amazing time that Police Legatees have had and the hurdles that many have over come to finish such a trek.
Mel had often spoke about doing the Kokoda Trek, and had planned to do this in the next couple of years. In Mel's legacy I will be a part of the NSW and NT Police Legacy Kokoda Trek of 2023.

NT Police Legacy Inc
Northern Territory Police Legacy is a self supporting not for profit Incorporated Association which has been operating since 1991.
The scheme is funded by the donations paid by members of the Northern Territory Police Force and members of the public who kindly donate to help the Northern Territory Police Legacy support our NT Police Legacy Legatees.
NT Police Legacy aims to offer personal and/or financial assistance to surviving spouses and dependants of deceased Members who were serving or retired Northern Territory Police Officers.
The scheme assures families that there is an organisation prepared to assist them with their emotional, financial, education and welfare needs.
