Help us secure land

Story

Save a Horse Australia is a fully registered and sanctioned horse rescue and rehabilitation centre based in QLD. The organisation has been running for over 10 years self funded however has been a registered charity since 2009. Our main goal is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected, unwanted and slaughter bound horses giving them a second chance at life and love then adopting them out under life time adoption contracts. Many horses that come into our care have been abused, neglected or just thrown away like rubbish and 90% of those horses find new homes under one of our life time adoption contracts. SAHA is based on the Gold Coast in QLD but has horses all over South East QLD in foster care and on two rented care facility properties. Our goal is to buy land that belongs solely to SAHA where we can build facilities for the rescue horses without having to move every few years due to leases ending and owners selling etc.

We have another goal, to use some of the rescue horses to work with at risk youth and people suffering from mental illness such as depression, bipolar and anxiety. This program will be working with clinical psychologists, equine psychotherapists and will be 100% not for profit so that everyone can assess the programs not just people who can afford it. It will be a true healing centre with horses that have needed healing at one point in their lives as well.
If the land we secure is large enough we also want to run a retirement program for ex racing broodmares who are used all of their life to race, then breed foal after foal until they are to old and to emaciated to breed any longer. Most of which are shipped off to the knackery. Many of these mares are late teens and early 20's with only 2-5 years life in them. We believe these mares deserve a retirement in luxuary and are goal is to provide it.

Please help us to secure land to build this facility. We need $200,000 to purchase land which will belong to the organisation and if for any reason the organisation was to deregister the land would be donated to another registered horse rescue charity or sold and the money donated to another horse rescue charity – This is in the organisations constitution.

All we need is 200,000 people to donate just $1 which will be the start of a first class rescue facility and programs in which we can really make a difference to the lives of horses and people. Once SAHA has some land we can apply for grants to help build facilities making sure this property will be used solely for rescuing horses and helping people. Thank you for your donation and for helping SAHA reach its goal of rescuing more and more horses providing first class rehabilitation and giving these beautiful creatures a second chance at life.

Save a Horse Australia Inc

Save a Horse Australia was established in 2001 as a private equine rescue and sanctuary however, in 2009 it was registered as a charity to allow the organisation to fundraise. Save A Horse Australia  was established to take in unwanted, neglected, abused and slaughter bound horses, rehabilitating them and finding them the perfect forever home. All of the horses that come into our care are given then very best specialist treatment and when its time for them to find new homes they go out under life time adoption contracts. This means that if the new owner can no longer keep the adopted horse, it must come back to us for rehoming. We do this to make sure that even horse who passes through our doors never falls into the cycle of neglect again. We monitor all adopted horses between 1 - 4 times per year to make sure they are going well in their new homes.

Please help to rescue more and more neglected, abused and unwanted horses.
