Star Writers' Collective Zine Fair - Raising Funds for Indigenous Literacy (Sept 2)
The Star Writers' Collective is holding our annual Zine Fair online this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. Money raised through zine sales will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in order to raise literacy levels amongst indigenous students in remote communities in Australia and the Torres Strait islands. As a group of keen writers and readers, this is a cause that is dear to our hearts.
Our digital Zine Fair will happen on Indigenous Literacy Day (September 2nd) and will feature zines produced by students from Star of the Sea College in Gardenvale, Melbourne. Just visit the Star Writers' Collective website on the day and click on the Zine Fair link. You can download as many Zines as you like, print them from the comfort of your home, and fold them into shape (directions will be published). In return, we ask that you make a donation to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation via our Go Fund Me page.

Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Our purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books - with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
