Story
Here in Australia more than 1300 women are diagnosed each year with ovarian cancer, including my daughter Loretta. Unfortunately there is no early detection test and the Pap test does not detect the disease.
How can I stand by and not do anything about it when you see a loved one in your family suffering? That’s my motivation to get out there and do something about it - taking on this 52 lap walk around Hyde Park lakes to raise funds to raise awareness, research and support.

Ovarian, like all other types of cancer knows no boundaries and every family has someone or knows of someone who is receiving treatment.
Together we can raise awareness of ovarian cancer to improve diagnosis and outcomes for thousands of Australian women and provide hope and support for those who live with this devastating disease every day.

- In Australia the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49%.
- In comparison, the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with breast cancer is 92%
- Each year, over 1,800 Australian women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and around 1,000 women will die from the disease
- 70% of patients diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer will have a recurrence within 3 years
- There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer
- The disease can affect females of all ages
