Story
Hi there!
There are so many people who are impacted by cancer who need help and so many others whose lives have been impacted.
I am fortunate to know many of the researchers who work tirelessly to help these people and their carers through their treatment and afterwards.. There is so much that can be done. TROG and the researchers need funding to be able to conduct this life saving research and find ways to improve lives in our society..
I am hoping to raise $2000. I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.
HERE ARE SOME "FAST FACTS" ABOUT TROG
- TROG Cancer Research, established in 1989, is one of Australia's largest cancer clinical trials groups and the only clinical trials group undertaking research related to radiation therapy and radiation medicine.
- Radiation Therapy is an important cancer treatment that benefits 1 in every 2 cancer patients. Modern-day radiation therapy is a sophisticated, precise, and accurate treatment that employs cutting-edge technology delivered by teams of highly trained professionals from a number of disciplines: specialist doctors (radiation oncologists); radiation therapists; medical physicists. They work in close collaboration with other members of cancer multidisciplinary teams.
- TROG specializes in research involving radiation therapy for many different cancers such as breast, lung, prostate, skin, head and neck, gynaecological and gastrointestinal cancers.
- TROG has successfully run more than 100 clinical trials and has offered more than 14,000 cancer patients access to cutting-edge clinical trials. Countless patients from around the world have benefitted from TROG's practice-changing and innovative research.
- TROG Cancer Research is renowned internationally and is the recipient of awards for "Outstanding Cancer Research ‘Innovation in Cancer Clinical Trials".
WHAT IMPACT WILL YOUR DONATION HAVE?
TROG needs funding to initiate new research. Every single clinical trial starts with a question or an idea. Oncology professionals come to TROG with an idea and TROG facilitates the process of developing that idea into a rigorous clinical trial.
Trials in development are not yet covered or eligible for government funding, but in many ways this period is the most critical to the research success. This development period includes laying the foundation for the trial including creating the trial protocol, ethics review and peer review - which all ultimately affects patient safety.
TROG Cancer Research also uses donations and sponsorship to perform research pertaining to Quality Assurance in order to:
- improve the quality of the radiation therapy treatments delivered to cancer patients using cutting edge technology and techniques
- improve quality of life for all cancer patients worldwide
