Story
Hi there
Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss.
It is our goal to raise $8000 to help children, young people and adults living with Alopecia Areata to transform themselves by owning a wig; and to continue vital scientific research developing treatments and ultimately one day, a cure.
Sandra will be shaving her head and donating her long red hair. Brett too is donating his most prized possession- his long red hair, cut 15 years ago, plaited and preserved in pristine condition ready to become a new wig for someone to flaunt!
Our hair is being donated for the Wigs for Kids and Wigs for Big Kids programs run by Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF). AAAF provide grants to individuals for the purchase of a wig and also ensure they receive information, service and support needed to create the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively.
Your support is truly valued as you are making a real life changing difference for someone living with Alopecia Areata.

(AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
