Throw Pies At The Prof!

Story

THANK YOU!!!!

We have now closed this wonderful fundraising event. If you would like to read more about the outcomes of CLAN's efforts to support the OI and DMD Communities in Vietnam, please read more her

We had a productive trip. From Hanoi via Hue to Ho Chi Minh city, 5 of us, David Little, Craig Munns, Verity Pacey, Lucy Kevin and Kate McIntosh interacted with Vietnamese families with OI and DMD as well as giving lectures to local medical and allied health staff.

Great connections were made across all disciplines and we hope to be back in 2015.

Your support made a big difference

HE DID IT!!!!!!!

In full suit and tie, he did it - the Prof took all the pies that could be thrown!!

CLAN's sincerest thanks go to Prof David Little for his AMAZING efforts at Children's Hospital Westmead on Monday 5 May 2014... There was some savage pie throwing - and big bear hugs for Prof Craig Munns to celebrate at the end...  yes

Prof Little, you are a CHAMPION - thank you for helping children living with OI & DMD in Vietnam.

Funds raised from this event will go a long way to supporting change that strengthens these communities long into the future - we are so grateful!!!

Every donation is gratefully received - please support the Prof's brave & selfless act!!!  surprise

Here's YOUR chance to Throw Pies At The Prof!

CLAN is incredibly grateful to the amazing Professor David Little (Paediatrics and Child Health with Children's Hospital Westmead and University of Sydney) who has very generously committed to getting involved and supporting the Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) Communities of Vietnam.

An expert in the field of child health in Australia (specialising in bone health), Prof Little is committed to helping make a real difference for children in Vietnam.

On 5 May in the Orthopaedic Clinic at the Children's Hospital Westmead Prof Little will be going above and beyond to make a difference, and YOU can help!! Come along to the CHW Clinic at 2pm on 5 May, buy a pie and take aim for the Prof! Alternatively, feel free to donate online and ask for a pie to be thrown on your behalf...

By buying a pie and throwing it at the Prof, you can help CLAN, CHW and our colleagues in Vietnam achieve change for the children in Vietnam.

Money raised will be used to:

  • Hold educational training sessions in Vietnam paediatric centres for doctors, nurses and other health professionals, and share current updates from Australia on the management of OI and DMD so as to maximise quality of life for the children

  • Run family support group meetings for the OI and DMD Communities in Hanoi, so that families and health professionals can come together and learn from one another and work together to help the children

  • Help poor families attend the meetings (travel support) and provide free meals for all families that attend

  • Produce and print educational resources for the families to receive free of charge, helping them learn more about the best ways to care for their children

  • Support communication and development for the OI and DMD Communities longer term (mobile phone use for Club Executive, website development, social media use) so that families can receive up to date information and support in an affordable and sustainable way into the future.

We are so grateful for any contribution, big or small. Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to CLAN to help the children in Vietnam...

PLEASE COME ALONG AND THROW A PIE AT THE PROF!!

And please leave a message of encouragement for him as well...

Thanks so much for your support!

CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours)

CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) is a not-for-profit, Non Government Organisation, established in Australia in 2004. Our vision is to maximise quality of life for children living with chronic health conditions in resource-poor countries of the world. These children suffer significant, preventable and inequitable morbidity, mortality and disability, and CLAN believes this situation is at odds with the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. CLAN is currently working to help children who are living with Diabetes, Autism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), Duchenne Muscular Dystropy (DMD) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) amongst others, and we collaborate with partners in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines.
