Story
As an elite athlete training in rowing, I have been known to enjoy a drink or two so to improve my performance in training I have decided to go alcohol free for 84 days. My fellow team mates are also training for the marathon in Melbourne on 14th of October, where I will be doing the half marathon.
As an athlete you become very aware of eating healthy, and the importance of fresh air and having environmentally friendly technologies for the future. This is why as a team we have decided to raise money for CERES.
“CERES has become a cultural and environmental icon, featuring a vast collection of action-based
sustainability projects and involving a diverse global community”.
The heart of CERES site is considered to be the play space and café where children play together
and adults read or mingle over their beverages. The place space already contains “The Nest” , “The
Dome”, and the sand pit, which is being renovated. CERES will use the money raised to erect an
interactive entrance to the children’s play space and cafe. This will be in the form of a decorated,
woven crawl through sculpture inspired by bower bird nests. (for more information on the Place
Space please click here).
By helping CERES further develop the heart of this four-hectare inner city self-sustained site, our aim
is to introducing the idea of environmental sustainability to children at a young age so that when
they reach adulthood, they considering environmentally sustainable habits and careers.
To learn more about CERES and their environmentally sustainable ideas and projects please visit
them at the corner of:
• Roberts Street and Stewarts Street, Brunswick East, on the banks of the Merri Creek.
• Alternatively you can visit them at www.ceres.org.au
You would usually spend the following in one night. Why not put that money to better use…
… just once?
$20 = tame Friday night drinks
$60 = dinner with friends
$100 = Night out on the TOWN!
